Obama needs to work fast to gain Latino vote in state, political ...

Barack Obama says he has built a diverse coalition to win the presidency, blind to differences of race, gender or age.

But in California, where Latinos voted Democratic by a 2-1 ratio in 2004 and are expected to make up a quarter of Tuesday's Democratic electorate, Obama's inability to connect with the Latino community cannot be ignored.

In statewide polls dating to April, Latino voters overwhelmingly have favored Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, by a 3-1 ratio. It is a major reason Clinton has maintained a double-digit lead over Obama in California.

In a final-week push, Obama is challenging the numbers. He's expected to dispatch Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., popular among Latinos for his immigrant rights record, to campaign on his behalf.

Microsoft: Firefox users in danger due to more frequent updates

The author of a controversial white paper comparing Firefox' security integrity with IE's has released an update, which now makes an even more contentious claim than the original.

Because Microsoft releases Web browsers less frequently and supports older editions for longer periods, claims Microsoft Security Strategy Director Jeff Jones in his latest report, Internet Explorer 7 users are less susceptible to security vulnerabilities than users of Firefox, whose updates come more frequently and whose older versions are disavowed sooner.

One key element to the increased out-of-competition tests (7000 tests in 2008 as compared to 1000 last year) is the introduction of a reliable riders' whereabouts system, the ADAMS computer system (Anti-Doping Administration & Management System).

With ADAMS, ProTour but also Pro Continental riders will submit and update their schedules online, making known their whereabouts every three months. The data will then be available not only to the UCI, but also to WADA and the various national anti-doping agencies, resulting in a better coordination of the controls. While this represents a considerable progress, the CPA (Cyclistes Professionnels Associs, the Rider's association) has voiced its concerns over the feasibility of such a system, where every hour of every day must be determined three months in advance.
